otherwise, well done.

Holy shit

As I was listening to this, I actually started crying, something that music hasn't done to me in a very long time. Every aspect of this track is just beautifully done. Every section of it is mind-blowing, and every transition is perfect.

But technical shit aside, again, this song actually pushed me over the edge emotionally. A lot of it reminded me of the shit that I've gone through, and made me once again realize how precious my life is to me, and how much I love who I am, and that nothing anybody says to or about me can change what I feel.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is thank you. Thank you for writing this epic. I'm glad I got to hear it. I downloaded all of the parts in the highest quality download I could find, and I have been listening to them all for the past week. And every time I listen, I cry a little. But in a good way.

Don't let anybody tell you you're not good enough for something bro. Don't let anything anybody says get you down. You're strong for putting your pain and struggle into this amazing piece of music.

Nice work

I loved the guitars and drumming. I couldn't hear much bass though, did you record any bass? It's possible that the guitar's just had too much low end, or the bass didn't have enough thump, or I just was using shitty headphones. I'd love to know the answer :3

The guitar tone was a little too saturated for my taste, but it worked well for the song overall, so who am I to complain really? The playing was tight, the melody was pretty, the harmony was perfect, and the solo at the end was beautiful and melodic, even though you were playing a fast-paced song (something I love. I can't stand shredding).

Also, the drumming was fantastic, like I said. Did you have a live drummer or did you program them? If you programmed them, what software did you use? They sounded very real, and had sick panning.
The beats were wonderfully done, every drum punched through the mix, and the cymbals weren't mixed out too much like many metal bands seem to be doing these days. My only complaint was that the snare was a little tinny when there wasn't much going on with the guitars which allowed it to ring more throughout the soundscape, but to each his own.

Burn7 responds:

I did record bass, I just really lowered it because my guitars have a heavy low end to them. It's something I've been working on mixing better, so this was kind of experimental in that respect.

Honestly, I can't just... shred. It doesn't sound right to me. It has to be somewhat melodic and make sense with the rest of the song, or else it just fit well. At least for me.

Nah, I didn't use a live drummer, it's a program called Addictive Drums bt XLN Audio. It's really awesome, it has different add-on packs that have preset drumkits and stuff. It's the best drumming program I've used so far. I do some slight mixing in there but the program usually does a pretty good job of regulating itself. It's really useful.

Anyway thanks a ton for the badass review. I really love reviews like this, it's one of the few things that keep me posting here on NG.

amazingly well written song. cd quality

first things first. hamsters, emo is an offshoot of punk that came in the early 90's. it was just as fast, sometimes slower, same kind of stuff, just more emotional. it came more from your experiences and feelings than from political anger and drive.
and now for the part where i review the song.
dude, this is pretty amazing. i would definitly buy a cd when it came out, and would defintly want to see you guys live. its very guitar driven, even when the guitars are very soft backround stuff. it adds so much, especially the lead. it is such a melodic compliment for the rhythm guitar. and the use of harmonics in the end is pretty inventive. not many people do that these days. and your drummer is exactly in time, and your singer's vocals are very good. a good sense of melody and harmony. i especially like the scream in the end. it adds a feeling of loss to this song, and as far as i can tell that is the overall mood of the song. and now, if you'll excuse me, i need to add this masterpiece to my ipod now. keep writing this kind of stuff, and your band is going to go places. amazing vocals, lyrics, guitars, and drums. pm me when you guys come out with a cd.
